Appliance Repair Questions and Answers
The questions Dallas homeowners ask us most about appliance repair, answered plainly. Rather just talk to someone? Call (817) 687-1675.
Before You Call
What should I have ready when I call?
Three things make the call quick and help us bring the right parts:
- The type of appliance: refrigerator, washer, dryer, oven, stove, dishwasher, freezer or ice maker.
- The brand, and the model number if you can find it. It is usually on a sticker inside the door, on the back, or under the lid.
- What it is doing: not cooling, not draining, not heating, leaking, making a noise, showing an error code.
I can't find the model number. Should I still call?
Yes. The brand and a description of the problem are enough to get started. The technician will read the model number on site.
Is there anything I should check first?
- Make sure the appliance is plugged in and the breaker has not tripped.
- For a gas oven, stove or dryer, check that the gas valve behind it is open.
- For a washer or dishwasher, check that the water supply valves are on.
- If there is water on the floor, turn off the supply and unplug the appliance before calling.
What to Expect During the Visit
What happens when the technician arrives?
The technician asks what you have noticed, then checks the appliance and tests the parts that could be causing the problem. Once the failed part is found, you get a plain explanation and a clear price before any repair work starts.
How does the repair itself go?
- Most repairs are done on the first visit with parts we carry on the van.
- If a part has to be ordered, we tell you how long it will take and set up the return visit.
- After the repair, we run the appliance to make sure it works properly.
- Every visit ends with a short summary of what was done.
What do I need to do?
- Have an adult home for the visit, at least at the start and the end.
- Clear a little space around the appliance if you can. For a refrigerator repair, a cooler for perishables helps.
- Keep pets in another room while we work.
- Tell us about anything unusual: recent moves, power outages, earlier repairs.
